You can delete your ChatSend account and the personal information associated with it at any time. This page explains how to request deletion, what is deleted, what limited information may be retained, and how long the process takes.

Request deletion by email

Request deletion by email:

1. Send an email to dlatham@chatsendapp.com with the subject line: “Delete my ChatSend account”
2. In the email, include:
   • The phone number and/or email address you used to register your ChatSend account
   • Your username or profile name, if you remember it
3. We may contact you to verify that the request is really yours before we delete the account. This protects your account from deletion by someone else.
4. Once verified, we will delete your account and confirm completion by email.

You do not need to give a reason for deleting your account.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we delete or de-identify:

• Your account and profile information (name, phone number and/or email address used to register, profile photo)
• Your MOODS posts and other media you shared, from ChatSend’s systems
• Your messages and voice messages held on ChatSend’s systems
• Device and usage information associated with your account, except where retention is described below

Messages you sent may remain visible on the devices of the people you sent them to, in the same way an email remains in a recipient’s inbox after the sender deletes their own account. Those copies are no longer under ChatSend’s control.

Deletion from your own device: deleting your account does not uninstall the app. To remove the app and its locally stored data from your phone, uninstall ChatSend after your account deletion is confirmed.

What may be retained, and why

We retain only limited information where we have a genuine legal or operational need:

• Legal and security records. Minimal records needed to comply with the law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms & Conditions — for example, a record that an account existed and was deleted, and relevant security logs. These are kept only for as long as reasonably required for those purposes.
• Backups. Deleted information may remain in system backups for a limited period before being overwritten in the normal backup cycle.
• Payments records — when payments exist. ChatSend does not currently offer money transfers or payment services, so there are currently no transaction records to retain. If money-sending features launch in the future, financial and identity-verification records relating to transactions may need to be retained for the period required by financial-services and anti-money-laundering law, even after an account is deleted. This page and our Privacy Policy will be updated before any such feature launches.

Retained information is not used for marketing and is not reactivated as an account.

How long deletion takes

• We aim to complete account deletion within 30 days of verifying your request, and most requests will be completed sooner.
• If a request will take longer — for example because identity verification is incomplete — we will email you to explain and tell you what we need from you.
• You will receive an email confirmation when your deletion is complete.

Before you delete

• Account deletion is permanent. Your account, profile, and the content described above cannot be recovered after deletion is completed.
• If you later want to use ChatSend again, you will need to create a new account.
• Deleting your account does not cancel anything else — ChatSend accounts are free, and there are no subscriptions attached to a ChatSend account.
